AC repair in Wheeling and the north suburbs
Running but not cooling, leaking water, or tripping the breaker. We find out which of those it actually is before anything gets replaced.
What we get called out for
- The AC runs all day and the house never gets cold A coil too dirty to shed heat, a refrigerant leak, or a system that was undersized to begin with Book a visit
- Water on the floor around the indoor unit A blocked condensate drain, a rusted pan, or a coil freezing and thawing Diagnostics
- The breaker trips in a heat wave The compressor pulls more current when it is hot; a dirty coil, a tired capacitor or a breaker that was never the right size will all give out first Book a visit
- The indoor coil is a block of ice Airflow or refrigerant. Turn the system off and let it thaw before we arrive, or we cannot read anything Book a visit
Diagnosis
Gauges first, parts later
A digital manifold on the service ports answers in two minutes what guessing answers in two visits. Zero pressure on both sides is not a system that needs topping up, it is a system with a hole in it, and the honest conversation starts there.
We write the readings down and you get them, whether the fix is a twenty-dollar part or a decision about replacing the unit.
Repair or replace, the honest answer
Some systems are worth another repair and some are not, and the difference is usually the coil.
A leaking microchannel condenser coil is the clearest example. They are difficult to repair in a way that lasts, so recharging one means paying for refrigerant twice: once now and again in a few weeks. When we find that, we say so and put both numbers in front of you rather than selling you a refill you will be back for.
An older system with a dirty coil and a failed capacitor is the opposite case: a few hours of work and it cools again for years.

What customers wrote about AC work
Turned out it was a small issue, and they fixed it fast without trying to upsell me on a bunch of stuff I didn't need. Super honest and chill.
... showed up quickly and was very quick to diagnose the problem with our AC and fix the issue! Will no doubt be using alex again for his services and would recommend him to any others as well!

AC repair questions
How long does an AC repair take?
Most of them are one visit. A cleaning, a capacitor, a contactor or a condensate line are done the same afternoon. A leak search or a coil replacement takes longer and we will say so before we start.
Should I just add refrigerant?
Only if you know where it went. Refrigerant is not consumed by a working system, so a low charge means a leak. Topping up without finding it means paying for the same gas twice.
How often does the outdoor unit need cleaning?
Once a year in this area, more if it sits under cottonwood or beside a dryer vent. A coil packed with dirt raises your electricity bill quietly for months before it trips anything.
Can you work on a system another company installed?
Yes. Most of what we repair was put in by somebody else.
