General Climate, and the man who started it
An HVAC company based in Wheeling, working the north and northwest suburbs, with its owner out on the jobs.
Alex owns General Climate and works the jobs with us
An owner who is out on the work is not a small difference. Nobody here is working to a sales target somebody else set, and nobody has to check with an office before telling you a repair can wait until spring.
He is also not the only person in the photographs on this site, and not the only person on a General Climate job. What does not change is the standard the work is held to, which is his, and that is why the reviews keep saying the same things.
How we work, according to the people we worked for
Three habits that come up again and again in the reviews.
He was very professional and patient in addressing all of our issues! He communicated everything and included it all with pictures for clarity in the invoice.
His work is great and my favorite thing about him is that he was ON TIME. So many service people don't respect your time.
I had problem fixed in no time and hope to keep working with this company because good HVAC doctor is like good family doctor.
In HVAC since 2022
Alex has worked in HVAC since 2022, and General Climate grew out of that work. What we have learned since is on this site the only way it can be checked: job by job, with the photographs from the day.
What is verified, and what is not
Insured and background-checked, both verified through Google Local Services. Based in Wheeling, IL 60090.
Illinois does not issue a state HVAC license at all, so a contractor who advertises one is telling you almost nothing. The same is true of most of the words painted on vans in this trade: nobody checks any of them. Where there is a document to point at, this page names it and says what it covers, and the list stays short on purpose.
City of Chicago general contractor license
General Climate holds a general contractor license from the City of Chicago, license number TGC145837. It is Class E, which covers projects of up to $500,000. It was issued on May 11, 2026 and expires on May 11, 2027.
It is a city license, so it applies to work inside Chicago.
EPA 608 Universal certification
Alex has held an EPA Section 608 Universal certification since November 2023. Federal rules require Section 608 certification to work on equipment that can release refrigerant, and Universal is the level that covers all three types of that equipment, from window units to low-pressure chillers.
The service area
Wheeling is the base, and we work outward from it
The twenty towns on this list are the ones around Wheeling: Buffalo Grove, Prospect Heights, Arlington Heights and Northbrook on one side, the North Shore on the other.
We would rather be fifteen minutes from a customer who calls back in February than spread across Cook County and an hour from everybody. So the map grows town by town, as the work does.
