A newly installed high-efficiency gas furnace in a utility closet, its PVC intake and exhaust piping run up to the ceiling, a media filter cabinet on the return side and a bypass humidifier on the wall behind. — The finished furnace: new venting, new filter cabinet, and room left around it to service it.

What we did

Replaced the furnace with a WeatherMaker 96% single-stage unit, 80,000 BTU, and fitted an Ecobee thermostat and a 20x25x4 filter cabinet on the return.

New intake and exhaust venting went up with it, and the manifold gas pressure was set at start-up with a manometer on the burner door rather than by eye.

What can wait

Nothing was left outstanding here. The filter in the new cabinet is the only thing that needs attention from here, and it is a 20x25x4.
